Why use film for fashion photography?
With fashion aiming to celebrate uniqueness and individuality, what better way to capture it than through film photography!

In today’s digital world, much of photography has a tendency to look similar. Using film to document fashion is a way to stand out among uniformed looks. As well as this, modern technologies allow for photos to be easily edited – at times to the point where they look unrealistic or unattainable. Clothing is basically every person’s second skin, so it is best to capture it in ways that are accurate, especially if they are for commercial purposes.
Using film can also heighten your attentiveness as a photographer. Since the final photos cannot be viewed immediately and there are no chances to delete and retake them as many times as one pleases, choosing film will help fashion photographers practice and develop their attention to detail.

Fashion photography is more than showing new styles or must-haves. It is about storytelling, which film can add layers and possibilities to. The analogue look can also provide aesthetic appeal according to a photographer’s creative vision or an audience’s preferences.
Film photography can also feel reminiscent of editorials from the previous century, serving as an ode to the iconic fashion photography of the past. At the same time, using film is also a way to look to the future, where both photography and the fashion industry are not bound by rules. Wear what makes you feel like you, and shoot with film to capture your rarity. Film produces pictures that cannot be replicated, making it a great match for unique styles and fashion.
