Rodrigo (@heymars), a Colombian-born photographer based in Marseille, is a regular contributor to our magazine. As a lomographer and dreamy traveler, he has won several awards for his photography over the years. In this interview, he shares his experience of testing our new film, LomoChrome Color '92 Sun-kissed!

@heymars

Hi Rodrigo! You were already familiar with our original LomoChrome Color '92 and now you have also tested the new version of this film. What did you think of it?

From the very first shot, I was impressed by the enhanced color saturation compared to the previous version, while still maintaining that unique retro effect. The balance between the "bluish" tones and the warm light of the moment creates a distinctive and artistic look for each photo. The film transforms ordinary scenes into true works of art, making it ideal for those who want to add a creative touch to their photos.

For me, the LomoChrome Color '92 Sun-kissed is perfect for urban scenes where the vibrant colors stand out depending on the intensity of the light. I achieved excellent results with outdoor portraits, where the vintage effect and color saturation add an extra dimension to the image. It is versatile and adapts to many creative contexts.

In your opinion, what type of images or times of day does it lend itself best to?

As with any specialized film, there is a learning curve. It's true that at the end of the day, the film reacts very well, especially during the Golden Hour. I can perfectly imagine using it in summer or in southern countries, like Madeira, for example!

The LomoChrome Color '92 Sun-kissed is quite sensitive to exposure, so it's essential to master the camera settings or trust its automatic mode while considering the light factor. This was my approach to getting the best results. I found it important to test different lighting conditions to understand how the film reacts. For example, I tried it in the car with a flash once night had fallen.

Sometimes, the results can be unpredictable, but that's also part of the charm of this film.

What is your favorite photo from this shoot, and why?

I have several favorites, but the reasons are often the same! The balance of the "blue" tones and the capture of the warm and unique light of Marseille at the end of the day evoke very Californian scenes. This "Los Angeles-like" aspect was the key factor for this shoot.

That's also why I invited Bouchra to pose for me. She loves California and has visited it several times, I believe. When I suggested doing this shoot with her skateboard, the car in road trip mode facing our sea, she was immediately charmed by the idea!

@heymars

What are your plans for the future?

Honestly, I would love to start showcasing and promoting my photography in the United States! I've always felt that my photographic style aligns more closely with Anglo-Saxon culture, with the very urban and Hispanic DNA of my shots, as well as the sense of escapism that this vast territory provides. The US would really appeal to me.
