Synesthesia#16: Imagined Album Covers – Paris Edition

From Place de la République to Sorbonne, from Montmartre to Champ de Mars, there is never a dull sight when walking the historical and lively streets of Paris. With the launch of the easy-to-use and pocketable Paris Edition of the LomoApparat, we dive deep into the archive of the Lomohomes to find shots of Paris over the years. Accompanying this are a mix of tunes that are perfect for mindlessly walking any city, with a touch of French music. From smooth beats that will get you in the mood to walk, to ambient classical and world tunes that are perfect for lazy days at the park, here is the 16th edition of Synesthesia!

Combining the LomoChrome Turquoise and Lomo LC-A+, in this photo taken by @lomoskin we can hear the bustling rhythms of Paris. This easily reminds us of jazzy instrumental hip-hop beats that are great for relaxing and listening to as you walk, bike, or skate through the city. With this, we chose some really killer beats that are a great companion for a fun walk through Paris.

Musclecars - She Raised Us In Sunset Park
Onra - Close Your Eyes And Remember
Lunatic - Civilisé

They say Paris never changes and this 90s black and white photo is a reminder of how timeless the city is. Emotionally captivating, this image reminds us of late-night strolls that are therapeutic and reflective. These three songs will make you feel as if you are the main character of your own French New Wave film.

Jean-Luc Ponty - Once Upon a Dream
Gabriel Yared - Chile con carne
Heart People - Adriatica

Transforming the subway into a scene from The Matrix, this picture by @theblues uses a gone but not forgotten Lomography film stock – Lomography XPro 200 ISO 35 mm. Haunting and mysterious, as if we are in a never-ending dream sequence, we can imagine a pulsating kick drum, loud synthesizers and reverberating percussions filling the halls of this subway corridor. For those of us running late these three fast-paced electronic songs will help you get to your destination on time.

Aphex Twin - Pulsewidth
Goldie - Inner City Life
DiSKOP - The Spirit

It's not an uncommon scene around the streets of Paris to see large groups of people huddling together to get a photo. The washed-out tones and colors of this photo instantly remind us album covers from the 2000s and 2010s. Taken with the Lomo Lubitel 166+, we can really hear different generations of French music in the air, which is why we chose three French tracks ranging from disco, indie-rock and French House.

Djeneba - Better Day (Hard Soul Mix)
Phoenix - S.O.S In Bel Air
The Paradise - In Love With You

Reminiscent of jazz and Bossanova covers from the past, this shot by @ceydonat captures a Parisian lounging around in the sun. The Diana F+ adds a dreaminess to the photo and we could imagine this photo being taken decades ago when jazz, psychedelic rock, and folk were all the rage.

Anadol - Felicita Lale
Gábor Szabó - Dear Prudence
Serge Gainsbourg - Je suis venu te dire que je m'en vais
